Curriculum Vitae (English version)My research and teaching activities are linked to the former Department of Analytical Chemistry of the University of A Coruña (Group of Applied Analytical Chemistry, QANAP) -now merged with the other Chemistry areas to yield de Department of Chemistry-, since its foundation at 1990. I joint the Department as a Ph.D. student. In 1993 I got a possition as an Assistant Lecturer to the Professor, until 1997. Then, I held a temporary possition as an Assistant Professor, which was confirmed to an Assistant Professor job after a Public Examination on September 1999. On May 2011 I got a possition as a Professor of Analytical Chemistry after passing a Public Examination. Unesco's codes The international Unesco's codes for my common activities are: 2301.01 (Absorption Spectroscopy [medium and near infrared, MIR and NIR; code 2301.08]); 2301.99 (Chemometrics, also with code 1209.09); 2391 (Environmental Chemistry); 3321.11 and 3321.12 (Petroleum-related products) and 3321.99 (Quality Control). Some of my research activities can be classified under codes 3308.11 (Monitoring water and soil pollution, without a specific Unesco's code). Fields of interest The main fields of interest I have been working at, so far, are: Application of infrared spectrometry, NIR and MIR, to: a.- Predict physico-chemical properties of crude oils and distilled oil products (gasolines, kerosene, diesel oil, etc.) b.- Identification and monitorization of hydrocarbon lumps spilled on natural ecosystems c.- Determination of chemical and physical properties of liquefied natural gas |
Application of chemometric techniques to: a.- Unsupervised Pattern recognition and Data Mining b.- Prediction of physicochemical properties of several products and/or determination of the concentration of several analytes using different techniques of multivariate regression c.- Modelization of a set of classes to get classification models d.- Reduce the number of analytical variables required to model a system e.- Improve / simplify industrial Quality Control |
