Abstract:

The most frequent complications for total hip prostheses on a mid-term level are wear and loosening, two factors that generate a need for replacement. Prosthesis patients must undergo a periodical follow-up of their prosthesis. For patients who live in removed areas, the distance between their hospital and their usual residence may represent a serious inconvenience. We present a system that allows the remote, preoperational and coxofemoral evaluation and post-operational follow-up of the prosthetic implants, aimed at the early detection of prosthesis loosening.
